From trauma-informed care to care specially tailored to gender, culture, and more, AM Healthcare ensures that every client gets the compassionate care they need for healing.

Dual Diagnosis Expertise

Addiction and substance abuse frequently co-occur with other mental health disorders and illnesses. Providing comprehensive dual diagnosis treatment ensures that clients get the total care they need for recovery, which reduces relapse and promotes continuous personal growth.

Whole-Person Focus

AM Healthcare and our partners take a holistic approach to substance abuse and addiction treatment. Practices such as mindfulness, exercise, yoga, a healthy diet, and more promote improved wellness and overall well-being. When clients feel better, they are more able to focus on treatment and practice habits that keep them in recovery.

Flexible Scheduling

Life is busy, and seeking drug rehab can be a challenge for caregivers, parents, and more. The flexible scheduling of our outpatient treatment options allows our clients to receive the care they need while holding a job, caring for children, and more.

Support Beyond Treatment

Our continuum of care approach extends support to our clients beyond treatment in the form of aftercare and sober living programs. This involves options such as support groups, transitional housing, and exciting alumni events. All are designed to keep clients and alumni engaged, supported, and cared for post-treatment.

Levels of Care We Offer

Integrated Outpatient Treatment Programs

The needs of each person seeking treatment for substance use disorder (SUD) or drug addiction are different. While some may prefer residential or inpatient rehab options, others may not be comfortable or otherwise unable to participate in those programs. As with every aspect of a person’s treatment program, it is essential to find what works best for the individual. Different people have different needs, and their treatment programs should be a reflection of that.

AM Healthcare offers flexible and integrated treatment programs designed to meet a wide range of needs. For individuals with mild to moderate symptoms associated with substance abuse, an outpatient program may be best. People with severe addiction disorders will still be best served by inpatient facilities.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Partial hospitalization programs (PHP) and Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) are both intensive therapy options, but have distinct differences depending on individual needs.

A partial hospitalization program (also known as day treatment) is best for clients with more intensive needs and who are at high risk of relapse. They require clients to attend treatment for several hours a day, multiple days a week. It may include treatment services such as medication management, individual and group therapy, and other services. PHP is designed for clients who still struggle with withdrawal symptoms or cravings. Clients recovering from opioid addiction, for example, may first transition into a PHP from inpatient care.

An IOP is less intensive than a PHP, but is more intensive than typical once-weekly outpatient therapy. It’s designed to be structured and work well with clients who have busy schedules. Clients will typically utilize an IOP for a few hours a day, multiple times a week. An IOP is good for clients recovering from mild SUDs or addictions and who are at less risk of relapse. Clients may transition into an IOP from a PHP or residential treatment or begin treatment at an IOP.

Flexible Care for Working Adults, Parents & Caregivers

An outpatient addiction treatment plan is built around scheduling specific times for a person to come into a facility to receive addiction treatment. While the number of days and hours can vary depending on the program, the primary thing is that the person is not staying in the facility overnight.

Outpatient addiction treatment is great for those unable to seek treatment otherwise, without the flexibility of outpatient care, such as those:

  • Unable to take off work or leave home for extended periods
  • People with children
  • Caregivers to loved ones
  • Having a moderate or mild substance use or co-occurring disorder that is not severe enough to require inpatient care

Since you are not factoring in living expenses, outpatient services are far less expensive than inpatient programs. The lower cost can help those who may lack the means to find the right inpatient facility near them but still want to seek treatment.

Understanding Outpatient Treatment

Outpatient treatment is best for those who need treatment but don’t require a prolonged stay at a facility. This is especially true for those with a mental health challenge not severe enough to require checking into an inpatient facility. In this case, outpatient treatment provides needed care with minimal interruptions to daily life.

Services offered by outpatient mental health treatment facilities could include psychotherapy, medication management, or group counseling. Outpatient facilities usually provide a wide array of benefits, and it is entirely dependent on the needs of the individual seeking treatment.

The goal of outpatient treatment is to allow an individual to stay in the world while receiving treatment. This puts the lessons and new behaviors to the test immediately, allowing a better understanding of what works and what may not work for the individual during the treatment process.

How Outpatient Rehab Supports Your Recovery Journey

Outpatient rehab is an integral part of an addiction treatment program and the perfect stepping stone in the recovery journey. Some substances may cause lingering cravings that take time to learn to manage. Others may struggle with chronic mental health concerns. Outpatient treatment addresses these concerns while also allowing clients to gradually return to normalcy. In short, it’s training wheels that allow you to practice the skills learned in therapy with professional guidance and oversight.

When Outpatient Care Is the Right Fit

Outpatient care, when right for a client, allows them to do everyday activities while receiving the tailored care they need. Clients with mild mental health concerns or those transitioning from higher levels of care tend to fit best in outpatient treatment.

Cost-Effective, Flexible Treatment Options

Outpatient treatment is noticeably more cost-effective compared to inpatient rehab. There are no housing, food, or other costs, which reduces its price. This, along with its flexible scheduling, makes it an appealing choice to clients who don’t need medically supervised care.

When Detox or Inpatient Treatment May Be Needed

You may need the help of a detox or inpatient program at an addiction treatment center if you have a severe addiction to substances that cause intense or dangerous withdrawal symptoms, such as alcohol or opioids. Although everyone needs to go through detox as a part of drug and alcohol rehab, some substances are highly dangerous and require oversight to manage withdrawal and cravings.

Matching Services to Your Unique Needs

Each individual is unique, and so should their treatment. Our outpatient rehab in Los Angeles comes with a wide range of therapy and treatment options designed to treat a variety of substance use, addiction, and mental health disorders. We are prepared to meet the needs of diverse individuals, including men and women, first responders, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and more.

Support for You or a Loved One Throughout the Process

When someone seeking help enters an outpatient treatment program, they are scheduling treatment around what may otherwise be their everyday life. Outpatient programs will still have you living in your own home as usual, and you may even continue to work full-time during the process. The key is finding time, usually 10 to 12 hours per week, to travel to the center to seek treatment.

Since outpatient treatment is more sporadic than the continuous treatment provided by an inpatient program, outpatient programs will usually last far longer. While an inpatient program may last only one or two months, many outpatient programs will last several months and up to a year. It is essential not to rush treatment, however. Once you decide which treatment program is best for you, it is vital to embrace the program to the fullest extent to find success.

Program Highlights

Trauma-Informed Outpatient Addiction Treatment

Trauma is one of the major factors behind substance use, addiction, and mental health disorders. As such, AM Healthcare and our partners offer trauma-informed care, such as eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, to assist in healing without retraumatizing our clients.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for Substance Use & Mental Health

IOPs provide the mental health services needed for clients to recover from substance use and co-occurring disorders, while also allowing them to participate in normal life. This offers an optimal balance of care and responsibilities, providing a comprehensive and supportive approach to outpatient treatment.

Group Therapy, Family Support & Peer Connection

Addiction can be isolating. Offering options like group therapy and peer connection opportunities helps clients find mutual healing and understanding in each other. Our family support and therapeutic options help families heal from within, learn to communicate better, and build supportive homes for themselves and their recovering loved ones.

Integrated Care for Co-Occurring Mental Health Conditions

We utilize evidence-based therapies designed to treat mental health disorders that commonly co-occur with addiction and substance abuse. This comprehensive, dual diagnosis treatment plan reduces relapse and provides continued support for clients with chronic or lasting mental health conditions.

What to Expect in Outpatient Treatment

Outpatient treatment is designed to help clients put into practice the healthy behaviors they’ve learned in treatment. We will work with you to establish a schedule that allows time for care, along with time for normal activities. You may have individual therapy one day or group therapy the next. The activities and therapeutic modalities you participate in will depend on your unique needs.

Clients may make use of our sober transport services, which help clients go to and from treatment easily. We understand that our clients have busy lives and will work to ensure that our clients are treated with respect, compassion, and understanding.
