The Medical Assistant (MA) is the primary contact for residents and to ensure their safety and compliance with the program. This is a safety-sensitive position Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Greeting new intakes and visitors
Assist in the intake process, answering incoming calls, room changes and passes
Assist residents with daily schedules and weekend activities
Monitor resident detoxification process including checking on detox clients every 15 minutes
Record all resident information as directed including resident rounding in electronic medical records system
Report current resident status to the RS Manager and on shift change
Interact with residents in a professional manner
Perform resident supervision in accordance with established policies and procedures
Ensure resident compliance with facility rules and guidelines
Assess residents throughout their stay as directed
Report suspected resident abuse per policy and legal requirements
Act as a liaison between residents and the treatment team
Ensure cleanliness of facility as well as resident rooms when housekeeping is unavailable
Utilize personal protection equipment (PPE) and follows infection control procedures per policy
Take vital signs including temperature, pulse, respirations, and blood pressure

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Good written and verbal communication skills
Skills in time management and crisis intervention
Basic knowledge of chemical dependency and psychological disorders Ability to summarize pertinent clinical information via written documentation
Must be able to address and prioritize multiple task demands within established time frames
Must be flexible in work hours in order to meet facility needs
Must maintain self-control in volatile or hostile situations, such as when verbally or physically confronted
Must be able to set therapeutic limits and maintain therapeutic distance with clients and maintain therapeutic boundaries with clients during treatment and after discharge
Able to maintain confidentiality Exceptional customer service skills
Basic computer skills including Word and Outlook
Knowledge of HIPAA preferred Ability to use PPE as directed
Experience dealing with patients or clients in a hospital or mental healthcare facility preferred
Education / Experience / Credentials: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; Associates or Bachelors degree preferred
Experience in a chemical dependency setting preferred
Current Certified Nursing Assistant
Certification in good standing with the California Department of Public Health
Current CPR / 1st Aid certification required
Current, valid California Driver License with good driving record (in sole discretion of company) required
Experience dealing with patients or clients in a hospital or mental healthcare facility preferred
